Baltimore Beyond Crabs

September 30, 2008

Life does have a tendency to come full circle. Leaving Baltimore ten years ago eager to don the “career woman” hat, I find myself moving boxes back to that familiar place. Those years were all about making my flamboyant career hat fit perfectly. Unlike earlier doe-eyed days, the hat comes off more readily now. In [...]

I happened upon these two little boys while walking towards Mermaid Quay in Cardiff. What reeled me in was their dispositions – The taunting from the brother on the left had been going on for awhile, and in typical kiddie fashion, probably continued after I walked away.

Fire Republic….Your Passport to Style

September 26, 2008

When I got the email last night from my pesky, uber-creative siblings saying “Fire Republic” was now up and running, I knew I had to give them a much deserved shout-out. Touted as your passport to style, Fire Republic provides an array of vibrant fabrics, artwork, custom designed clothing, Africa-inspired jewelry, stationary (such as gorgeous [...]

This shot was taken in Nicaragua. At first glance, you’d think she’d seen something disturbing in the distance, prompting her to get up. One of my favorite travel moments. This shot was taken with an old point-and-shot 35mm film Kodak Advantix. Not sure if they make ‘em [...]

Moving between worlds

September 15, 2008

Reality seems to have blurred lately. Sorting through stacks of three month old mail and subscriptions upon return, it all seems so far removed. This life I’d temporarily left behind. Dust painted furniture. A full answering machine. An empty fridge. Even the stifling humidity I meet in D.C. confuses my body which just the day [...]

On a weekend jaunt from Stockholm to Latvia, we spent the day exploring Riga. There was a photography exhibition right in the heart of Doma Laukums (Main Square). We spent the next half hour studying the exhibition. As we rounded a corner, there was a photograph depicting young adults at some sort of rave or [...]

Storforsen

September 5, 2008

I needed some fresh air. A twelve hour ride up to Swedish Lapland along the High Coast had left me with a nasty cold…. after winding down my window close to 50 times to take scenic pictures against the rushing wind!. We drove to the little town of Älvsbyn – the pearl of Norrbotten – [...]
