I'm glad the article is in print - you worked really hard on it and it's a great piece. Could I be one of the "amazing ladies" !? Your description of the trip, the awesomeness and difficulties are spot on.

Awesome! I plan on going to Machu Picchu on my upcoming trip to Peru, but I will be taking the train. I would love to challenge myself with one of the trails, but I am planning on reserving the bulk of my trip for Bolivia! Can you tell me how people reacted to you in Peru? Are they used to seeing black women there?

Great article, sounds like a fantastic yet grueling adventure! This is a place that many people would love to visit, but not many will have the chance. Well done.

That's awesome Lola. One of the things i remember from "Dead Women's Pass" was watching someone trudge up the trail (i think they were from germany) and upon reaching the summit proceeded to light up a cigarette. Now that's what i call dedication to a habit.

Excellent story, L. Good writing, great photos, AND a publisher. What's not to love?

(p.s. tab order of fields in comment submittal is wacky)
