My ultimate soft spot is and always will be supporting various humanitarian causes, and this year, Passports With Purpose (PWP) will be raising $50,000 to build a village in India. I’m confident that collectively, we will raise and surpass our goal because each fundraising effort over the last two years has shattered its own expectations.

Started in 2008, Passports with Purpose has grown exponentially in terms of impact. Here is the backstory and more on its current efforts to build an entire village in India:

Left QuotePassports with Purpose is an annual Travel Bloggers’ fundraiser. In 2009, 90 bloggers participated and raised almost $30,000 to build a school in rural Cambodia (complete with a school nurse and a kitchen garden that provides each child a daily meal).

In 2010, we have set our sights even higher. With your help, we will raise $50,000 to build a village, brick by brick, in rural India through our partnership with Friends of Lafti.

For about $2,000, LAFTI can build a home, for which the land title is given to the woman of the household. Passports with Purpose aims to raise enough money to build approximately 25 homes to create the Passports Village in Karunganni, located in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.Right Quote

Starting November 15th, you can make donations of $10 or more to the cause. In addition, you can choose which prizes you’d like to win when making your donation. Please reach into your pockets and give what you can.
